Salahuddin Attar

 

Salahuddin was born in a small area of Pune city in India called Hadapsar. Completed Schooling at the Ornellas High School, Pune. He completed his education with Bachelor of Science degree (B.Sc.) in Chemistry (2001-04) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Organic Chemistry (2004-06) from Poona College of Arts Science and Commerce, Savitribai Phule University of Pune, India.

 

He was selected in Chembiotek, TCG Life sciences Company, Pune for the position of Research Chemist (2006-08), there he worked with the group of Dr. Sanjay Bhavsar on multistep synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) for leading pharmaceutical industries projects. He joined as a Research fellow (2009-12) in the Department of Chemistry at the Jamia Millia Islamia University on the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India research project. He Qualified the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Lectureship (LS) in Chemical Sciences (2011) from CSIR and University Grants Commission (UGC) India.

 

He joined the Department of Chemical and Geological Sciences (March 2013) for the completion of Ph.D. thesis in Chemical Science and Technology (XXVIII cycle) at the University of Cagliari under the guidance of Prof.sa. Paola Deplano on “Design and Synthesis of Photoactive Molecules”.

He has visited Joseph Fourier University of Grenoble, France, Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany and University of Lund, Sweden under the programme of COST Action 1202 for presentation of research work.

 

 

Research interests: Currently he is working on design and synthesis of complexes acting as catalysts and materials with donor acceptor properties having applications in photo catalytic water splitting, Non-linear optical (NLO) materials and dye sensitized solar cells.
